You will pay off the entire price of the vehicle through a series of monthly payments. At the end of the agreement the vehicle is your property. The monthly payment is determined by the amount of deposit paid, the period of the contract and the sale price of the vehicle.
PCP will enable the customer to purchase a new/used vehicle with lower monthly repayments by deferring a large amount of the total cost of the vehicle to the end of the contract. This amount is known as the Guaranteed Future Value (GFV), often referred to as the Balloon payment. The GFV is set by the finance company and is based on a chosen annual mileage stipulated by the customer. At the end of the contract the customer can either pay off the GFV and keep the vehicle, hand the car back or sell it and settle off the balance.
This is a common method of funding for customers with high income who are purchasing high end vehicles due to the flexibility of calculation of figures. A Balanced Payment Plan offers the benefit of a fixed monthly payment, however unlike Hire Purchase, where the interest is fixed, Balanced Payments track the changes in LIBOR or bank base rate, depending on the agreement. As rates fall or rise over the period of the contract, so does the interest charge you pay.
Vehicle leasing is the leasing of a motor vehicle for a fixed period of time at an agreed amount of money for the lease. It is commonly offered by dealers as an alternative to vehicle purchase but is widely used by businesses as a method of acquiring vehicles for business, without the usually needed cash outlay.
Having spent many years dealing in the prestige automotive sector for dealerships and on a daily basis seeing the frustrations of clients having to go through a “process” to secure a deal on a car, I began to think that there must be a better way.
